Delete your Oolel Maps account

Last updated: May 24, 2026

This page explains how to permanently delete your Oolel Maps account and the data we hold about you. It applies to the Oolel Maps mobile application available on Google Play and the App Store, and to accounts created via email/password, Google sign-in, or Sign in with Apple.

We comply with Google Play's data deletion requirements: you can request account deletion either from inside the app (recommended) or by email. In both cases, your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace window.

1. How to request deletion

1.1 From inside the mobile app (recommended)

This is the fastest path and works whether you signed in with email/password, Google, or Apple. Open the Oolel Maps app and follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings tab from the bottom tab bar, then tap your profile card at the top.
  • Tap "Account settings".
  • Scroll to the "Danger zone" section at the bottom and tap "Delete account".
  • Read the on-screen warning and type DELETE in capital letters to confirm.
  • If your account uses a password, re-enter it. If you signed in with Google or Apple and never set a password, no password is needed.
  • Tap "Delete my account" to schedule deletion.

Your account will be scheduled for permanent deletion 30 days later. You will be signed out of every device immediately. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to remove this app from your Apple ID's "Apps Using Apple ID" list.

1.2 By email (if you cannot sign in)

If you have lost access to your account and cannot use the in-app flow, send us an email and we will process the deletion manually:

  • Email: contact@oolelmaps.com
  • Subject: "Delete my Oolel Maps account"
  • From: the email address associated with your account.
  • Include any other information you remember (phone number, full name) to help us locate the account.

We will reply within 14 days to confirm the deletion. If we cannot verify ownership of the account, we may ask for additional information.

2. Delete specific data without deleting your account

If you only want to remove certain data and keep your account active, you can do so directly from the Oolel Maps mobile application. Each path below deletes only the listed data type. Deletions take effect immediately and are propagated to every device signed in to your account.

2.1 Saved places (favorites) and favorite lists

  • Open the Saved tab.
  • Swipe a saved place left, or open it and tap the bin icon, to remove a single favorite.
  • To remove an entire favorite list, open the list and use the menu to delete it.

The favorite is removed immediately from your account on the server and across all your devices. No retention period applies.

2.2 Saved routes

  • Open the Saved tab and switch to Routes.
  • Swipe a route left, or open it and tap the bin icon.

The saved route is removed immediately. No retention period applies.

2.3 Reviews you have left

  • Open the place you reviewed.
  • Scroll to your review and use the menu to delete it.

The review and any photos you attached are removed immediately and are no longer associated with your account or visible to other users.

2.4 Reports you have submitted

  • Open the menu and go to the Reports section.
  • Tap a report, then tap Delete.

The report is removed immediately. Anonymized aggregate counts may persist in our moderation statistics but no longer identify you.

2.5 Business listings and business photos you manage

  • Open the menu and go to My businesses.
  • Open a listing and use the menu to delete the entire listing, or open Photos and delete an individual photo.

Deleting a listing removes its name, description, contact information, opening hours, photos and any reviews left on it. Deletions are immediate.

2.6 Search history and route history

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Clear search history and/or Clear route history.

Search history and recent-routes history are stored locally on the device and are cleared immediately. They are not synchronized to our servers, so no server-side deletion is required.

2.7 Account profile fields (name, photo, language)

  • Open Settings, tap your profile card, then tap "Account settings".
  • Edit individual fields, or leave a field empty (where allowed) to remove its value.

Profile edits take effect immediately. The email address used for sign-in cannot be cleared while the account exists; to remove it, use the account deletion flow described in Section 1.

3. The 30-day grace window

Once deletion is requested, your account enters a 30-day grace window before permanent removal. During this window:

  • Your data is retained but the account is flagged for deletion.
  • You are signed out of every device.
  • You can cancel the deletion by signing back in to the mobile app and tapping "Keep my account" on the banner shown in Settings.
  • After 30 days, the deletion is final and your data cannot be recovered.

4. What data is deleted, anonymized, or retained

4.1 Deleted permanently

The following data is permanently deleted at the end of the 30-day window:

  • Your account profile (full name, email, phone number, profile picture, password hash, language and display preferences).
  • Your saved places and favorite lists.
  • Your saved routes and trip history.
  • Your search history and navigation history.
  • Your reviews, ratings and reports submitted via the app.
  • Your suggested edits on addresses and places.
  • Your authentication tokens and session data.

4.2 Anonymized, kept on the public map

Oolel Maps is a crowdsourced map. Addresses and businesses you contributed and that were verified by the community or by our team remain on the public map because they belong to everyone who relies on the map, not just to you. Your contribution attribution is removed so the entries cannot be linked back to you:

  • Addresses you submitted (postal codes, street names, building descriptions) remain public, but the "contributor" field is cleared.
  • Business listings you created or own remain on the map, but the "owner" field is cleared.
  • Photos attached to public addresses and places remain on the map but lose any link to your account.

4.3 Retained for legal and audit reasons

A minimal set of records is retained to comply with applicable law and to protect the integrity of the map:

  • Audit logs of edits to addresses and places (who changed what, when) are retained for moderation, rollback and abuse prevention. After deletion, your user ID in these logs no longer maps to any active account.
  • Aggregated, non-personal usage statistics that do not identify you (for example, monthly active users in a region) are retained indefinitely.
  • Records required to meet legal obligations (tax, fraud prevention, court orders) are retained only for the periods required by applicable law.

5. Developer accounts and API keys

If you also have a developer account at developer.oolelmaps.com, deleting your mobile account does not automatically delete your developer account. To delete a developer account, email contact@oolelmaps.com from the developer-account email address with the subject "Delete my Oolel Maps developer account". API keys associated with the developer account are revoked immediately and the account is then purged following the same 30-day window.

6. Questions

Any questions about account deletion, the grace window, or what we retain can be sent to contact@oolelmaps.com. Our full data-handling practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
